These are crazy times. The war on iraq has begun, and the protests were massive and wild. There is a crazy energy in san francisco, but i wonder if it will last. The first day after we launched the attack protesters linked arms and shut down almost every other intersection bringing traffic to its knees. I walked to work and was really amazed by the passion and the number of people participating. The police were tolerant at first but their approach has been increasingly aggressive with each day. Only one of my co-workers was grabbed, arrested, and held for 8 hours. They did manage to lose all of his belongings in that short period of time. I wonder how this go from here. It appears that the war may be a long affair. if i prayed, i would pray for its end, but i'd rather attend the next rally.
Let me catch up on what i've been doing. 3 weekends ago i planked two days at kirkwood with max. we stayed with abe and his davis crew in style. It was a funky cabin they rented, but a hot tub made all the difference. We made a crazy concoction that rocked my world. Very mild, but it made for good times. These were our first days of spring skiing, and the first time i felt comfortable blasting through the half pipe. I think i understand the addicition to riding the pipe, because it really is amazing if you can do it right.
I've been playing piano quite a bit and the lessons continue. I really love it. I love the jazz and blues improv riffs i've been learning. I plan on keeping that up.
2 weekends ago Megan led us to her brothers house in the marina. we huddled on the back deck for a while and gradually took over the party. Megan led us in a game of bite the box. It was hilarious. The next day we headed to josie's and kevin's and basked in the sun on their roof top listening to the helictopers hover over the protest. there was a good party in our hood on hayes and we finished the night off on our dance floor.
This past weekend we went dancing at the elbo room followed by a real southern style brunch at j-birds. I already had eaten lunch with my mom and brought her by to meet the gang. They loved her. We spent the afternoon juggling and hanging around the fire pit into the evening. There were a couple of great house parties that night and we shook our asses. Spent sunday afternoon in the park listening to the jam session and playing frisbee and soccer. It was an incredible day and spring is here.
