day to day thoughts::this is the one

8.06.2002

This last weekend we canoed the russian river for sean's b-day. what an incredible group of people . . . i think 30-40 in all. Such a fun time. The sun let us down in not burning through the fog . . . probably for the only day all summer up there, but we made the most of it. I think everybody drank their share of budweiser, and i think everybody rolled it once.

After the canoe we headed for sean's and cooked up a feast. We played a scintillating game of celebrity, highlighted by joves strong ties to linda ronstadt

Summer has been incredible. There's really no way to catch up on everything that has happened. I put up galleries of bob and heather's wedding and our trip to strawberry all in the photography section of my site.

I had so much fun in hawaii. We stayed just past kaanapali at the mahina surf. we had lots of old friends staying in cabinas looking out onto the ocean. We rented long boards for the week and had our share of sessions. surfing is incredible when you have friends in the warm water all catching waves.

even things that seemed to go wrong worked out well. deep sea fishing our boat got skunked. no matter. abe pulled out a ten pound tuna and the sashimi was the best i've ever tasted.

the catamaran to molokini was more like a puke fest on the high seas comboed with death dive 2002 scuba. The scuba gear was a bit faulty, but everybody survived with only minor nitrogen buzzes. those of us snorkeling discovered the thrill of noodling. You float on colorful pipe insulation, and bob in the waves.

the waves were great. nothing big but just fun social play waves. Enough that you could run up and down the board a bit. The nights were spent catching up, celebrating, and skinny dipping.

The wedding was the most beautiful i've seen. On the water at a historic plantation, bob and heather wed under the shade of their hupa. We all sat in the sun on the lawn, and soaked in the love. Then we dined under a large tent and waited to shake our ass's. We had the dance floor jumping. The toasts were great, and it was such a wonderful event.

After the wedding we picked up molly who had flown in and headed to hana. After a wonderful hike to infinit pools it was getting late. So we decided to camp. It didn't take long to rain on our picturesque campsite, but who cares. I caught a few hours of sleep in the car. We found a wonderful bay to surf all by ourselves the was a river valley running up into the rainforest hills. We had the waves all to ourselves. Hawaii was an incredible time. congratulations bob and heather. i wish you all the happiness in the world.
