some pretty cool designs out of the thousands submitted for this board competition. how do you get a thousand people to design boards for free . . . . . throw a design contest. i think the winner gets a free board. reminder to self. don't enter design competitions. but designing a board would be fun, and a free snowboard doesn't sound all that bad. remind self to read previous sentence.

The sweet sweet styles of the 70's. The smooth lady in the ahhhhvocado tube top just makes the design pop. This is a collection of early Atari indstrial design for games and arcades. I love how video games and wood went hand in hand. Cedar, wood paneling, arcade monitors inset in wine casks . . . these were ground breaking designs, the future of gaming, and bell bottoms and platforms give it that extra spice.

Here's to the King. The most intelligent and courageous of men. We spent his holiday in the mountains, Arnold, CA. nestled just below Bear Valley. It was incredible. The cabin, thank you Kristin, was cozy and filled almost the entire weekend with the comforting wafting smell of bacon. The snow couldn't have been harder but we made up for it with fun people and good times. here goes a link to the //ARNOLD collage.

I finally put up a web page for my recent paintings. It's simple, but it feels good to have a body of work, and have it up for viewing. I think this will just push me forwards to continue painting and refine my style.

Finally . . . kitten whips. i was shooting photage around our studio for a presentation pitch that will capture the flavor of Grey. Trying to capture the flavor of a location makes you notice all the little things, every detail. And the little boutique on the first floor around the corner finally has their kitten whips in . . .

i can't say being kitten whipped sounds very nice and i hope this store does not bring any kitten suffering, but it must be big to make a sign. how does this little boutique stay afloat.

Last weekend i relaxed with holly and steve over veggie pasta, and it was nice to catch up with them. Saturday we watched the Raiders redeem themselves at Max's out on T.I. I love the view of the city, bay, bridges, islands, sailboats from the island. He grilled delicious steaks on the bbq, and we played jenga with roomies and friends. We went to Todd's 30th b-day later that night and shook our ass's. We were the entire dance floor, but we shook it. This weekend i plan on heading to the mountains . . . all i have to do is finish this film between now and then. It's a fun project. We need to make a 3-10 minute film about the flavor of our office, and we storyboarded and shot film all day today. Tomorrow we interview the talking heads, boss's, and shoot the B roll shots of design in action. On friday we go to spoonfed and have a few pros help us turn this into a legit film. It's going to be fun to watch them work in final cut and aftereffects . . . a nice change of pace. I think i love film and see an exciting future in working with it.

Stef has been rewarded for his long hours of labor working on his own film. He has been invited to the Sundance film festival which rocks for him. congratulations. He made a trailer of 16f9 A beautifully designed film.

late tuesday night and i haven't checked in for almost a month. another quick catch up. well i had a fantastic party. my first in the sunset and it exceeded all expectations. I borrowed a tall heater and a fire pit from dale, and people gathered like moths til the wee hours in the morning. I had a dj in the basement who was a bit lonely because everyone was enjoying the warmth of the fire out back. I'm excited to throw another.

Then came the holidays. X-mas was wonderful. I had some real family time. It started with a trip to Abe's grandma's for a night of christmas caroling around the neighborhood. We did alright considering less then half the houses turned out the porch light and pulled the drapes. good holiday cheer. We followed that up with a game of white elephant and cranium at kim and cliffy's. great to see them again.

I had a wonderful holiday visiting with all the family. Dave came back from Ohio and is happy. I loved spending time with all of the family. I did alright on the loot as well. The gift that came out of the blue but i love is a set of golf clubs. I took Roy to the range and we were clickety clacking balls. Knocking them too deep, and it feels so sweet. My 29th birthday was spent in Tahoe with Dave and Max. We had a good time and only had to sneak one smashed lamp out in max's board bag. 2 days of snowboarding were wet and heavy, but a nice start.

Abe had friends stay over the new year, Cassidy and Paige who were up from San Diego. We all had a great time dancing at club six for the new year. This past weekend Roy came to visit. Great to see him. He's looking so smooth flaunting that NY style, died hair, jet black, messy as ever. Italian NY Pimpin. On sunday I went to my first Oakland Raider game. Bethany and I had nice seats and it rocked. Everybody's dressed to the 9's in their best street gang wear, but so very nice because they are so excited to be there. I loved watching Jerry Rice play ball. Somehow they led the whole game and managed to lose it on a 54 yard field goal in the last minute. ho hum. That's my last month, that wasn't too painful, but somehow the synopsis loses the feeling of how nice december_01 really was.
